No police action over stripper's Chiefs allegations

Police won't be taking action after a stripper claimed members of the Chiefs rugby team touched her inappropriately at an end-of-season party.

Waikato Police said in a statement they had spoken to the stripper known as Scarlette and offered her information and support. But unless more information comes to light, they will not be investigating further.

"Based on these discussions, which include consideration of her wishes and the information currently available to us, police will not at this stage be taking the matter further.

"However, this decision may be reviewed if new information comes to light," police said in a statement.

In an interview with Story Scarlette said the players were rude to her "right from the second she walked out" at the hot pools.

She said they encircled her and heckled her as she walked in.

"Show us your c*** was the first thing they said, and that just continued from there. Any person I went near, they were being told, 'Lick it, lick it'," she said.

"There was real peer pressure on them to act like mongrels."

Scarlette said she allowed one player to lick a private part for $50, but other players also did this without her consent.

She said one player in particular was more forceful than others and kept trying to touch a more intimate part of her, despite her protests.

"They were touching me between the legs very forcefully - I was hit twice and then [a player] grabbed my vagina, to which I told him, 'No, you don't do that' and I pulled his hands away.

"He went straight back to doing it - I'm well trained in martial arts, and I use what I know - I kicked his head into the ground and put him into a chokehold and punched him in the genitals, and said, 'You don't touch me there, please'."

When asked whether she wanted the police involved, Scarlette said she was reluctant as a result of past experiences with them and the hefty emotional toll it can take.

"I don't want to put myself through that - but when you think about it, yes, it is wrong.

"It is a crime what they did."

Scarlette also told Story she intended on quitting her job as a stripper as a result of this and previous incident.

After Scarlette came forward, a second stripper known as Laura said she experienced similar treatment when she hosted an event for the Chiefs last year.

"I was trying to dance and they were all surrounding me. I asked them several times to back off and give me space - they ended up spitting alcohol all over me [and] touching me inappropriately," Laura told Newshub.

The Chiefs are investigating both women's claims and have called on New Zealand Rugby to help with their probe.
