Staff of strip club go north
Quote from Admin on March 3, 2024, 4:37 amChristchurch strip-club workers are heading to Auckland after the February earthquake put their premises out of action.
Calendar Girls was forced to close its two inner-city clubs after the quake. It plans a new venue in Auckland, and about 100 Christchurch staff will head north.
The central Auckland club will open on June 24 in the former Naval & Family Hotel.
Calendar Girls general manager Jacqui Le Prou said yesterday that a "high percentage" of the new club's staff would be from Christchurch.
Auckland expansion plans were in the pipeline before the quake, but the closure of the Hereford St and Armagh St clubs increased the urgency, she said.
Private events were keeping the industry in Christchurch afloat, and a short-term location was being sought until the Hereford St club could be repaired, Le Prou said.
